Halloween Night

Sunday, November 2, 2014

We have had a lot of fun surrounding Halloween this year. We had several different events the week leading up to Halloween, and Halloween was on a Friday this year so we were able to relax a little more than when it is during the week.  For Halloween, we usually trick-or-treat at the neighbor's house and then head out to the local nursing home for more trick-or-treating.  In years past, we have stayed out in town and gone to the fall festivals put on by the churches after going to the nursing home, but this year we decided to stay in the neighborhood.  We had a lot of fun seeing friends in their costumes and visiting with our neighbors. After we let the kids trick-or-treat for awhile, we came back to the house and handed out candy and carved pumpkins.  The kids got in their Halloween pjs and we watched Hotel Transylvania.  It was a great night and the kids had a blast!

Our traditional Halloween pictures on the tree

Swinging that bat...as always.

The neighbors across the street always have some sort of scary exhibit.  This year they did scary clowns and a spooky carnival. It was actually pretty creepy.  This was Colby's reaction walking up the driveway to their house....

Cameron was a little leery at first, also, but the clowns stopped acting scary when the kids got scared so he was ok getting candy from them.

Holding hands. Be still my heart =).

Pulling up the rear....

This was one of Tanner's friends' dad.  The kids were not excited about getting candy out of the bowl, but Tanner braved it eventually.

Cameron needed a little moral support, though.

Back at the house handing out candy

We carved pumpkins when we got home.  Tanner was scooping out the "guts".

He turns into a pumpkin after 8:00 or so.

I got the flash out at this point, which is why these pictures are so bright.  I had to act fast so I couldn't adjust everything easily. Sorry....=)

The only thing that kept Colby occupied was this balloon. He kept letting go of it all night, though. He is lucky that he has such a good sister.  She would get it....

and give it back to him.....

and get it again.

Our finished product.  Tanner drew the face and Clinton carved it up.
